How do I download Kate (computer voice) again on my TomTom Go 520?

Posted: 14:12 12 Jun 08 #1

For some reason, Kate stopped talking when I updated my TomTom 2 weeks back. I contacted customer support, who advised me to delete the contents of the loquendoTTS folder & then restore backup or reinstall using TomTom CD.

After deleting the contents, the restore option did not work for some reason. Also, I can't find my CD. Is there any way I can install the computer voice, or get hold of a CD?

Is there not an option in tomtom home for voices?

There is an option for Kate, but it has been created by an anonymous user & not by Tomtom. The only TomTom options are the standard voices, not the computer voice (which can read out street names & smses etc.). Also, after the update, my speed cameras have disappeared. How do I get them back as well?

If you can't run the backup, you will need to reinstall the speed camera DB.

Where did you get it from originally?

I got the speed camera DB as a default with my TomTom, I think I received a free speed camera offer with the device. I've never signed to the speed camera subscription.

If you did not use the free subscription, you might be able to do that now.

Other wise, unless it was backed up, you will to be able to restore it.

Thanks for your quick replies!! I have already used up the speed camera free subscription. I had a back up, but I'm not able to restore my device as it's showing some error. All my problems started after updating my device. I've lost my computer voices as well (I still have the standard voices) after the update, & TomTom customer support haven't been helpful. They say that the computer voice is not covered by warranty & I'll have to get it repaired at a cost! How can I get hold of the CD that comes with the TomTom?

Try connecting to home, changing to a non computer voice like Tim via the PC, then disconnect and manually re select Kate from the TT itself.

I believe theres a retail outlet in melb who sell the tomtoms   who if you produce a origional not working cd will give you a backup or you need to produce GPS and a recipt and proof of the need for the cd else you would have to buy one though given that it almost never gets used purchase is often impractical,  you could also try renting an apropriate GPS or make an enquiry with support at the tomtom site

Hmmm....I'm not sure now, if I got the CD with TomTom. I can't select Tim through TomTom Home & then select Kate, simply because I have completely deleted Kate from my TomTom on the advice of TomTom customer service. I'll try contacting customer service again.
