Unlocked (what's this?)

What is an "Unlocked" phone?

Many cell phones are designed to use a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card to store subscriber data. These SIM cards are issued by the carrier and provide cell service to the phone. "Locked" cell phones will only recognize SIM cards from the carrier that originally provided the phone. Almost every cell phone provided by a US carrier is locked to that carrier’s network.

"Unlocked" cell phones will recognize SIM cards from any carrier using Global System Mobile Communications (GSM) technology. Customers with "unlocked" cell phones are able to use any GSM carrier of their choosing, including "pre-pay" or "no contract" SIM card options. "Unlocked" cell phones also accept international SIM cards that provide discounted rates while traveling abroad.

Motorola ATRIX 4G Android Smartphone Features

The Motorola ATRIX is possibly the most powerful phone we've ever seen. Its a wish list of specs where every aspect is cutting edge. Inside you get 2 processor cores running at 1GHz each (NVIDA Tegra 2); 1GB of RAM and a stunning 4" display running at quarter HD (960 x 540 pixels) that's covered by toughed Gorilla Glass. Throw in the latest version of Android the ability to record and playback HD video and the Motorola ATRIX is already more powerful than some net-books. Then add in Firefox, the popular same browser people use use on their desktops and laptops runs as you'd expect it to on the Motorola ATRIX.

The story doesn't stop there with the ATRIX, if its powerful enough to replace a desktop PC, why not? Thanks to Motorola's WebTop technology, you can plug the Motorola ATRIX into a dedicated desktop dock, connect a keyboard, mouse and monitor and suddenly it becomes a PC replacement. Want to work on the move? The laptop dock combines a laptop style keyboard and screen with a dock for the Motorola ATRIX. Your phone is now your PC and laptop in one. It's Pretty Amazing!

The Atrix was massive this time last year and was billed as 'The worlds most powerful smartphone'. However, in 2012, smartphone technology has somewhat moved on yet the ATRIX seems to up to speed with the latest. In fact since the 2.3 update everything seems to run faster and better than before. While using the lapdock it's easy to forget that the phone is responsible for running the whole OS. This is because with the updated version of Firefox it actually works! Seriously I could recommend this to anyone. Its £300.00. Most smartphones cost the same except with this deal you also get a neat looking and useable kind of notebook and get the most out your smartphone. Its pretty amazing!
